Garmin markets Pocket PC with integrated GPS capability

Garmin has announced the introduction of its new iQue M5 Pocket PC. Based on Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software, the device includes an integrated GPS receiver that folds up from the back of the unit to adjust reception angle. The iQue M5 has Garmin's QueMap navigation software built into it, along with general maps of North and South America, and Puerto Rico. The product ships with Garmin's MapSource City Select CD, which provides downloadable, street-level maps for the U.S. and Canada, along with more than five million points of interests. The device features a 416 MHz PXA 272 processor and includes 64 MB of RAM and 64 MB of flash ROM (15 of which is available to the user for secure data storage). Storage memory can be added to the device via the single SDIO card slot.

The Garmin iQue M5 will be priced at $749.99 and will be available through Garmin dealers and online sources in February.

BenQ introduces Phone Edition device

The Taiwan company BenQ will introduce it's new p50 Phone Edition device in February 2005. It's a relatively small device, with a 2.83 inch diagonal color touch screen and an integrated quad-band GPS/GPRS phone. It also includes built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, an integrated digital camera, and a QWERTY thumb keyboard. The BenQ p50 will be priced around $800. No word yet on which retailers or wireless service providers will carry the device.

Hard to find Asus A730 available in U.S.

Online retailer ProPortable (Source: http://www.proportable.com) is now shipping both versions of the Asus A730 to U.S. customers. Both devices incorporate Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software, feature a 512 MHz PXA 270 processor, and sport a color VGA display. Both incorporate a built-in digital camera, Bluetooth capability, and CF and SDIO card slots. The standard unit, the A730, comes with 64 MB of RAM and 64 MB of flash ROM. The enhanced unit, the A730w, also includes Wi-Fi capability and an additional 64 MB of RAM. ProPortable is selling the A730 for $499 plus shipping, and the A730w for $600 plus shipping.

Cingular markets Siemens SX66Phone Edition device in U.S.

Cingular Wireless will market Siemens new SX66, a quad-band GSM Phone Edition device which uses Microsoft's Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software. The SX66 is powered by a 400 MHz PXA263 processor and comes with 128 MB of RAM. The device has integrated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, a single SDIO card slot, a 3.5" 16-bit color display, and a slide-down QWERTY thumb keyboard. It is based on the same HTC hardware as O2's XDA II and T-Mobile's MDA III.
