Cingular introduces Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone

Cingular has announced the availability of its 2125 Smartphone. Based on the new Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphone software, the 2125 is a quad-band GSM/GPRS phone with the ability to access Cingular's EDGE high-speed data network. The 2125also features a built-in 1.3 mega pixel camera. Cingular is marketing this device to the general and enterprise customers. The Cingular 2125 Smartphone is available from Cingular's Web site (http://www.cingular.com), authorized Cingular dealers, and through Cingular's B2B sales organization.

T-Mobile to release new Pocket PC and Smartphone

T-Mobile has announced the release of two new Windows Mobile devices in the U.S., based on HTC designs. The T-Mobile MDA is a Phone Edition device and the T-Mobile SDA is a Smartphone. Both devices are designed to work with T-Mobile's GSM/GPRS network, and both have an integrated 1.3 mega pixel digital camera and integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capability.

Verizon offers new Windows Mobile Phone Edition device

Verizon Wireless and UTStarcom have announced the availability of the XV6700, a Windows Mobile 5.0 Phone Edition device. The device is designed to work with Verizon's CDMA network and is capable of accessing the network's EV-DO high-speed data capabilities. The device has built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 1.3 mega pixel camera, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The complete suite of Windows Mobile productivity applications from Microsoft are built into the device. The XV6700 is available to enterprise customers through Verizon Wireless' business sales channels. It is available to the general consumer through Verizon's Web site (http://www.verizonwireless.com), Verizon Wireless retail stores, and from Circuit City. The XV6700 is priced at $299.99 (after $100 rebate with two-year customer agreement and qualifying data plan).

Windows Mobile phones from Acer expected in second half of 2006

DigiTimes reports that Acer (http://global.acer.com) plans to introduce new Windows Mobile Phone Edition devices latter this year, based on Samsung CPU chips and running Windows Mobile 5.0. The first device to be released will be a 3G-enabled model.
