How to customize buttons on a Pocket PC

Overview:

Buttons are yet another way to quickly access the programs or functions you want on your Pocket PC.

Customize your device's buttons by going into Start> Settings> Buttons.

Glossary

Buttons: There are physical buttons on all Pocket PCs that perform pre-programmed functions such as launching (running) a program or starting the Voice Recorder.

You have a number of buttons on your Pocket PC (number varies depending on the device you have). Usually, four of them flank the d-pad (a.k.a., navigation pad), which is found below your screen and allows four-way interaction with your Pocket PC. The buttons surrounding the d-pad will have various functions assigned such as Calendar, Contact, Mail and Today.

How to do it:
  1. Turn on your Pocket PC.
  2. Tap on Start >Settings >Buttons (You'll see a list of the buttons on the device in section 1. Next to each button is the name of the program it is currently assigned to launch.)
  3. Tap on the Button you want to change. It will be highlighted.
  4. Tap on the down arrow in area 2 to see a drop-down list of all the programs that can be assigned to the buttons. Tap on the new program you want assigned to the button. The program name in the Assignment column in area 1 will change to the program you just selected.
  5. Tap on OK to exit the Buttons setup screen. Now, any time you press that button, the newly selected application will be launched.
