The nominees, finalists, and winners of Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine's Best Software Awards were determined by our Board of Experts, a panel of over 90 members of the Windows Mobile community. Each of these individuals volunteered a considerable amount of time to nominate and judge productivity applications, games, utilities, and other Windows Mobile software titles. In addition to their voting duties, we asked them to comment on the most useful and interesting software programs available for Windows Mobile devices. For the sake of brevity, we've selected a single comment for each program mentioned. At the end of the description we indicate whether the product works with the Pocket PC or Smartphone only, or with both devices.
For this issue, we asked the judges…

ClearVue Suite

A most versatile product offering many must-have features. This suite of document viewers offers many improvements over the built-in applications, and makes the Pocket PC (or Smartphone) something that I reach for even more often. Being able to view Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other documents without needing to convert them makes this the perfect tool for working with shared files on the road. (Smartphone and Pocket PC)

eReader

I was pleasantly surprised with this eBook reader program—I appreciate the colored background for reading eBooks, the selection of fonts, and the ability to easily scale the text. (Pocket PC only)

Laplink Everywhere

Laplink Everywhere is a very powerful way to access your desktop machine over the Internet from another PC or Notebook. The Windows CE Client extends this capability to Pocket PCs and Smartphones. I found the system very appealing. (Pocket PC and Smartphone)
