The 2006 Outstanding Achievement Award Goes To.

This year we honor Werner (Menneisyys) Ruotsalainen and the awesome team of Smartphone & Pocket PC bloggers, who freely provide their expert reviews, tips, and analysis at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs.

About eighteen months ago, we noticed Werner and his great posts all throughout the Windows Mobile web universe. Not only did he provide helpful responses to stumped users, but also including in-depth how-tos. He would frequently provide roundups of classes of software. In communicating with him, we realized he didn't have a web home, so we invited him to be our lead blogger. We hope that all readers will spend a few minutes at Werner's blog and you will be amazed at the quantity and quality of information.

Our blogs solve three challenges that we have had throughout our 20 years publishing magazines about mobile computing: (1) too much good information to publish; (2) too specialized information to publish (i.e. tricks that just apply to Dell Axim 51v); (3) too time-sensitive information to publish.

Our actual first blogger was Dan Hanttula, who set up the blog software according to our specifications. Dan has been writing clear, useful, and interesting articles for the magazine for several years, and now we can enjoy his knowledge online. (Dan created our new VIP web site pictured later in this issue). It was Dan who gave me the sage advice when I asked how many we should have join our blog team: If the quality of a bloggers posts is high, then the more the merrier.

In that spirit a big thank you and congratulations to long time Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine and http://www.PocketPCmag.com contributors as well as newbies, who have joined our blog team: Al Harrington, Ben Stanley, Bob Katayama, Bruce Keener, Clinton Fitch, Conrad Blickenstorfer, David Shier, Ed Zabrek, Eric Pankoke, Hal Goldstein, Jack Cook, Nate Adcock, Nathan Clevenger, Rey Flores, Tari Akpodiete, and Tim Hillebrand.
