A number of new devices have been announced, but were not available in the U.S. when this issue of the magazine closed in mid-September.
Hewlett-Packard iPAQ rx5900 Travel Companion

This new iPAQ is a full-featured Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC with an integrated GPS receiver and pre-installed GPS navigation software with maps. This relatively small six-ounce device sports a 400 MHz Samsung processor and up to 2 gigabytes of flash ROM providing ample internal storage for maps and other files (varies with different versions of the device).
The device is powered by an ample 1,700 mAh rechargeable battery and comes with integrated Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), Bluetooth (2.0), a 3.5 diagonal color QVGA touch screen, and an SD card slot for expansion. The device will ship with AC and vehicle power adapters and a vehicle mount.
HTC MTeoR (I-mate SP JAS, Dopod 595)
This new Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone is a 3G/EDGE-capable tri-band GSM/GPRS phone. Its a candy-bar style device with a 300 MHz Samsung processor, 128 MB of ROM storage, and a bright, readable 2.2-inch diagonal QVGA screen. It includes integrated Bluetooth, a 1.3 mega pixel camera, and a microSD slot for expansion. (Note: the HTC MTeoRs 3G/UMTS high-speed Internet connectivity works in Europe only.)
HTC P3300

The P3300 is a Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC with a built-in GPS receiver, TomTom NAVIGATOR 6 GPS software, and European maps. Its a quad-band GSM/GPRS/Edge-capable phone. The device also has integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 2 mega pixel camera, a microSD card, and a built-in FM radio. According to HTC, the HTC P3300 will be introduced in Europe in October. No word on when and if it will be introduced in the U.S.

The HTC P3600 is a Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC with an integrated capable quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE phone, and 3G triband UMTS/HSDPA- capable. It also has integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 2 mega pixel camera, a secondary camera for video conferencing, and a miniSD card expansion slot. According to HTC, the HTC P3600 will be introduced in Europe in September. No word on when and if it will be introduced in the U.S.

The HTC S620 is a small, sleek Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone with an integrated QWERTY thumb keyboard, an integrated EDGE-capable quad-band GSM/GPRS phone. It features something HTC calls a Jogger, a touchpad on the right side of the device that lets users quickly scroll through e-mails and other items. It also has integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 1.3 mega pixel camera, and a microSD card expansion slot. According to HTC, the HTC S620 will be introduced in Europe in October. No word on when and if it will be introduced in the U.S.

The HTC S310 is a small, entry-level candy bar-style Smartphone based on the Windows Mobile 5.0 software. Its an EDGE-capable quad-band GSM/GPRS phone with a built-in 1.3 mega pixel camera and Bluetooth capability. According to HTC, the HTC S310 will be introduced in Europe in September. No word on when and if it will be introduced in the U.S.
