New enterprise Pocket PC from Casio

Casio, Inc. has announced the introduction of its new IT-10 Enterprise PDA. The device is based on Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software and is powered by a 416 MHz Intel PXA270 processor and includes a high-resolution VGA color touch screen. It has 64 MB of RAM, 64 MB of flash ROM, CF and SDIO card slots, and an ample 2,300 mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The IT-10 is shock, water, and dust resistant, making it suitable for heavy duty use in tough environments. This is the first new Pocket PC to be released by Casio in over two years.

New Symbol Pocket PCs for Enterprise

Symbol has announced the introduction of two new rugged Pocket PCs based on the Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software. Their new MC50 Pocket PCs are available in two versions: one with a built-in keyboard and another without it. Both devices will have an Intel XScale 520 MHz microprocessor, 64MB of RAM and 64MB of ROM, a Secure Digital card slot, and a transflective color TFT screen.

PalmOne rumored to be developing a Treo with Windows Mobile OS

Although PalmOne is not confirming anything yet, industry sources have reported that the manufacturer of a number of popular handhelds based on the Palm OS is working on a Treo that will use a version of the Windows Mobile operating system. Both PalmSource (developer of the Palm OS) and Microsoft have declined to comment on the report.

In a related story, NewsWireless.net reports that the release of PalmOne's Treo 650, which uses the Palm OS 5, will be delayed in Europe until February 2005 and that PalmSource is not committing to offer an upgrade to Palm OS 6 ("Colbalt") in 2005.

New Clio NXT Handheld PC announced

The Clio was first released in 1999 by Vadem, gaining a lot of media attention because of its unique "SwingTop" design. Data Evolution Corporation, which now owns the design, will introduce an updated version of the Clio in early 2005. The new Clio NXT will have built-in Wi-Fi (802.11b), a 400 MHz Intel XScale processor, USB connectivity, multiple memory card slots, MP3 player, audio in/out ports, and the Windows CE .NET v4.2 operating system. The company has already started taking pre-release orders.
