Password protect your Pocket PC, or Excel files only
You can protect the data on your entire Pocket PC by activating the Password feature found in the Start>Settings>Personal folder. Tap on the Password icon and check the box labeled “Prompt if device unused.” Then select “Simple 4 digit password” or “Strong alphanumeric password.” Once activated, this feature requires you to enter the password every time you turn on your Pocket PC.
You can also password protect individual Excel worksheets. With the worksheet open in Excel, follow these instructions:
- Go to the Password option. On Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition devices, it is found in Excel's Tools menu. On devices using the first version of Windows Mobile 2003, it is found in Excel's Edit menu.
- A dialog box will pop up, asking you to enter and confirm the password (Fig. 1). Do this and tap on “OK.”
