Turning on your Pocket PC the first time

A colleague of mine recently purchased an iPAQ h5550 Pocket PC and is having trouble turning the thing on. Are there any procedures or anything that needs to be done before attempting this?

Dan Jackson

Dan, it should be a simple matter of pressing the “power on” button. However, whenever you get a new Pocket PC, you should immediately connect it to the AC power adapter and charge it a few hours before using it.
If it won't turn on after it's been charged, try doing a “soft reset” on the device. This is accomplished by sticking the pointy end of the stylus in the reset hole, which, on the h5550, is located on the bottom edge of the device. If that doesn't work, do a hard reset. The procedure for this should be in the user manual. If that doesn't work, you need to send it back or contact HP tech support.
