Three new Dell Axim X50 Pocket PCs now available
Dell has announced the introduction of its new Axim X50 line of Pocket PCs. These new devices are based on the Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software and are designed to replace Dell's original and popular Axim X5 line.
The device will be available in three models. The top-of-the-line model is the Axim X50v, a powerful device with a 624 MHz Intel PXA270 processor, 64MB of SDRAM, and 128 MB of Flash ROM. The X50v sports a 3.7-inch color VGA (640 x 480 pixel) touch screen which can display in vertical or horizontal orientations. An onboard Intel 2700G multimedia accelerator with 16MB of video memory enhances the visual experience even further. In addition to the standard infrared port, the device has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless capabilities built in and ready to use. The X50v is powered by a 1100 mAh removable/rechargeable battery (with a 2200 mAh battery available as an optional accessory). The X50v is priced at $499.
The device is also available in mid- and entry-level versions, both with a QVGA (320 x 240 pixel) display. The mid-level Axim X50 has a 520 MHz PXA270 processor, 64MB of SDRM, 128 MB of Flash ROM, and integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The mid-level device is priced at $399.
The entry-level X50 has a 416 MHz PXA270 processor, 64MB of SDRAM, 64MB of Flash ROM, and integrated Bluetooth. The entry-level device is priced at $299.
All three devices have two expansion slots: one Type II CompactFlash and one SDIO-compatible slot. All come with the new Windows Media Player 10 Mobile, which is compatible with video and audio protected by the Digital Rights Management (DRM) 10 standard.

Asus A730 Pocket PCs announced
Asus has announced the U.S. availability of their new MyPal A730 Pocket PC. This new Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition device will come in two models. Both devices will be powered by the 520 MHz version of the Intel PXA270 processor and come with 64MB of SDRAM and at least 64 MB of flash ROM. The A730s will have a 3.7-inch color VGA screen that can display in vertical and horizontal orientations. Both devices will have one Type II CompactFlash slot, one SDIO slot, integrated Bluetooth capability, and a 1100 mAh removable/rechargeable battery (with a 2200 mAh battery available as an optional accessory). Both have has a built-in 1.3 mega- pixel digital camera.
The high-end version of the A730 will have built-in Wi-Fi and 128 MB of flash ROM.

Voq Professional Windows Mobile Smartphone now available in North America
Sierra Wireless has announced that the Voq Professional Phone is now commercially available in North America through MobilePlanet, Insight, and RCS Computer Experience. The end-user price is $499 with activation on the AT&T Wireless network.
The Voq GSM/GPRS Smartphone runs the Windows Mobile 2003 (first edition) software. The Voq supports VPN connections to corporate servers and e-mail, and comes with an innovative flip-open QWERTY keypad. The Voq runs on a 200MHz Intel XScale processor and comes with 48MB of ROM and 32MB of RAM.
