TeleType GPS WorldNavigator

TeleType offers one of the most customizable GPS solutions available

The previous article showed how two different GPS soluions could help take your mind off the worries of the road by providing you with turn-by-turn (speech and text) instructions to your destination, as well as by displaying your route and current location on a moving map. This article looks at a third GPS solution, the TeleType GPS WorldNavigator CF v2.0 (www.teletype.com). The program seems rather basic at first glance, but as you become more experienced with it you will uncover all kinds of customization options. It also takes a little more time to master than the other GPS programs, but the effort is worth it because of all of the extra features and capabilities. You can expand this program by adding on topographical and other types of maps, and map utilities. In fact, WorldNavigator's customization potential makes it the most full-featured GPS solution available for Pocket PC users.

My first successes with WorldNavigator occurred when I had to drop something off at a store that was way out in the boondocks, in an area with which I was completely unfamiliar and uncomfortable Without GPS, I probably would have forgotten about this hassle. Instead, I connected WorldNavigator and had an exceptionally pleasant drive. This smoothly executed GPS experience gave me an increased feeling of self-reliance.
