Which SD Card should I get?

I have an o2 XDAII & was thinking about buying a 1.0GB SD card! Could you please give me some advice concerning compatibility & prices etc. etc. Any info would be appreciated, thanks Colin...

Colin Young

Colin: Just about any SD storage card should work with the XDAII. They are available from SanDisk, Pretec, Kingston, and Lexar. Expect to pay $90-$100 for one. In addition, SanDisk has a 2GB SD card for a little over $200. MobilePlanet (http://www.MobilePlanet.com

Getting Outlook 2003 to sync with Pocket PC

I like to keep my notebook computer updated with the latest version of Microsoft Office. Unfortunately, I can't update MS Outlook because MS Outlook 2003 will not synch with my Pocket PC, which by default distribution syncs with Outlook 2002. Do you know of any plans from Microsoft that will allow users to upgrade their Pocket PC to the current version Outlook?

Tony Corsaro

Tony: In order to synchronize your Pocket PC with Outlook 2003, you must install ActiveSync 3.7.1 or later. The current version is ActiveSync 3.8. Also, you must reinstall ActiveSync after installing Outlook 2003 on your PC. Please note that any data fields new to Outlook 2003 are not supported in the Pocket PC. Microsoft has not announced any plans to upgrade the Pocket PC to support the newer Outlook fields.

Can I use voice record to capture long lectures?

If I have enough capacity via an SD or CF card, can I use the built-in voice record feature over long periods, for example, if I wanted to capture an hour-long lecture? Is there any bottleneck that would prevent prolonged voice recording?

PSquire

You can do this, but the voice record capability built into Notes is not the best way to do it. For one thing, it does not produce very good audio quality. In addition, any system event, like an alarm or appointment notification, would stop the recording.
I think you should check out alternative voice recorder applications for the Pocket PC. One of the best is NoteM (http://www.zavorine.net/wince/mp3.htm). This application records in MP3 format and has low CPU usage (which translates into low battery consumption). In addition, it's free!
