AT&T Wireless and Microsoft recently announced their new Windows Mobile Start service, designed to make it easier for users of the Motorola MPx200 to set up and personalize their Smartphones. The service allows users to access a convenient Web-based interface from any desktop PC that’s connected to the Internet to send configuration information to the MPx200 via SMS message. Thus, all changes are made using the full-sized keyboard of the desktop PC, rather than the smaller Smartphone dial pad. Here’s what the service helps you do:
Using the Windows Mobile Start service
The service is accessed from the Start Windows Mobile Web site (http://www.startwindowsmobile.com/aws). Near the top of the Web page are links to the Home page, Email & Favorites, Home Screen & Ringtones, and Applications, and Send to Device link.
Home takes you back to the home page of the Web site, from which you can access the other features of the site.
Email & Favorites initially takes you to the e-mail setup page, which gives you two e-mail account setup options:
- Personal Email, to be used if your e-mail account is a POP3/IMAP account issued by an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
- Work Email, to be used if your e-mail account is on a Microsoft Exchange server or is provided by an e-mail server behind a corporate firewall.
