HP's new iPAQ hw6500 Mobile Messenger is the first Pocket PC with a square (240x240) display.
Will third-party software display properly on HP's Mobile Messenger?
Because HP's yet-to-be-released hw6500 Mobile Messenger has a square (240x240 pixel) display, I have heard that software with QVGA or VGA graphical displays will not work on it; that only text-based software will work. Does anyone know if this is true?

I doubt that all legacy software will work flawlessly on the 240x240 square screen. HP should have built the device with a 480x480 square screen, which probably would have accommodated screens written for the smaller standard QVGA (320x240) display found on most Pocket PCs.

can't remove program I installed in the Startup folder
I installed a small power status program directly to the /Windows/Startup folder and now want to uninstall it. (Every time you do a soft reset of a Pocket PC, one of the first things it does as it reboots is to look into the Startup folder and launch the applications listed in it.) Unfortunately, every time I try to uninstall the program, its already running. I get a file sharing violation notice and can't uninstall it. In hindsight, I should have installed the program to another folder and put a shortcut to it in the StartUp folder. Any idea how I get rid of this?

You'll need to install the free SafeMode utility to get rid of it. SafeMode is a Pocket PC system utility that lets you reboot the Pocket PC without loading third party startup programs, Today screen plug-ins, and other services. It behaves somewhat similar to the Safe Mode on Windows PCs. You can download it at the MonoCube Web site (http://www.monocube.com).
