Brother International recently introduced the MPrint, a wireless micro printer that supports Pocket PCs as well as Palm OS devices, tablet PCs, and notebook PCs. The small thermal printer weighs 10 ounces and measures 4.0" x 6.4" x 0.7"--just a little larger than a Pocket PC. It includes a built-in lithium-ion battery that can power the device for printing up to 100 pages. The Pocket PC communicates with the printer via the infrared port. MultiMeteor has announced that it will host the fourth Pocket PC Summit at the fall CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment show, on October 20-23, 2003, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas. The conference Summit brings together industry leaders to discuss the business of Pocket PC technology, wireless applications, and services. The expanded forumIt will cover all Microsoft Windows Powered mobile devices, including Pocket PCs and Phone Edition devices. The Summit will also cover, as well as the new Tablet PCs. The Pocket PC exhibition on the CTIA Wireless show floor will spotlight the most innovative mobile solution providers in the business.
The third annual Best of Industry Awards Gala, presented by Pocket PC magazine, will also take place during the event. "The Pocket PC Awards ceremony is a celebration of the efforts of hundreds of developers whose products increase the enjoyment and productivity of Pocket PC users. Winners in over 50 categories, selected by experts from around the world, receive their awards on stage. Microsoft Corp., Orange SA, and Handango Inc. have announced that Orange will be the first mobile operator to distribute mobile applications through the Microsoft Mobile2Market (M2M) program. Orange will use Handango's application management and provisioning platform (AMPP), to take advantage of the M2M application cataloging system. This will provide users of the Orange SPV Smartphone customers with access to the latest range of Windows Powered Smartphone applications as they become available.
