Hello Everybody, first post on this forum.
I have purchased a wireless keyboard which the manufacturer claims is compatible with the 545.
When I run the software and try to enable the keyboard I get the following eror message:
"Another process is using the infrared port. Inspect StartMenu\Settings\Connections\Beam and uncheck'Receive all incoming beams'"
Problem is I do not have a BEAM Icon in my settings menu. Is there another way to turn access this seting?
I also thought that maybe my IR Port is broken, as I have never used it before. When I tried to transfer a contact to my mobile phone via IR, sure enough it didn't work, but doing it the other way, from my phone to the 545 was no problem.
I have done a complete hard reboot of the 545, just in case I had some software installed which hijacked the IR Port, but still no joy. Has anybody come across this or a similar problem?
Another hought was that it may be is an issue with PocketPC2000, but I understand that there is no way to upgrade the software to 2002 or 2003?
Any sugestions would be greatly received.
Many Thanks,
wagspk

I'm not sure whether they're really have tested the keyboard with the 545. They may just have listed the device without actual testing. You should ask them directly if they have tested it. Hope they will tell the truth :)
Yes, it's referring to the PPC2k2+'s location of the infrared applet. In PPC2k, however, it's not possible to switch off infrared receiving at all (just checked on my PPC2k Casio E-125 to be absolutely sure).
Well, it doesn't necessarily mean your IrDA port is broken. I'd think the inability to beam contacts is related to the basic, non-IrDA-compliant infrared support in PPC2k, and not a hardware problem.
Unfortunately, the 545 has 1, an SH3 processor 2, a non-flashable ROM, so you can't upgrade to PPC2k2.

Hi,
Thanks for your detailed response. I guess I will have to do without a Wireless keyboard.

Same here with my problem with a E-125 and the PA870U -- But there is no such thing as a beam menu in the Connections tab.
And so all the other programs which use the IR port for something don't work.
Oh well.
