Has anyone else run across this behavior? Have seen reports of it but nothing definite and no good solutions. I've been able to duplicate on an Axim X50v. One of our customers has also reported this to us for his HP4700. Both are VGA devices, so it may be limited to that.
Anyway, when you have a combobox (drop down) on these devices it behaves very strangely. The first time you click the drop down, it displays normally. The second time (and every time thereafter), it displays about half or slightly less than half of the # of lines it should.
For example, lets say the drop down should list 8 items. The first time you click the drop down, it will show all 8 lines. The second time you click the drop down, it only displays 3 lines and you now have scroll arrows.
It gets much worse if there are two or three lines to start with. In this case, upon the second drop down, you only get one line with no scroll arrows (and thus no way to get to the others in the list). If there is only one line to start with, then the second time you click the drop down, it doesn't drop at all (zero lines).
The only solution we've found is to force empty lines into the drop downs. Would really prefer a better solution, though, if someone has one.
Thanks much.

Hi Scott,
did you manage to find any other solution to this problem?
I'm having the same thing happening on a couple of new hx4700's.
You mention forcing empty lines into the drop downs, is this just to get the scrollbars to appear? And what is the minimum number of rows, 3,4 or 5.
Incidently did you also find that if there were a lot of items in the list then they behave ok?
Many thanks

Simon,
No, we never did find a clean solution to the problem. We've just continued to force empty lines as needed. If I remember right, we've forced it to always be a minimum of seven lines total. When it drops a second time, you'll only have three rows showing, but at least you'll get scrollbars.
You are correct that, if there a lot of items in the list, it behaves normally.

Thanks for that Scott.
I'm using quite a bit of validation code which checks for selections in the combo boxes using listindex = -1.
Presumably the blank entries mess this up, any suggestions for how to cater for the blank lines would be welcome.

Dear friend ;
I also had the same problem here in Taiwan ...
If can not fix the bug , my colleague suggest me to use vb.net + Sql ce to replace it....

Thanks,
