IR to create a partnership

I have a Ipaq 2210 running PPC 2003 and an IBM thinkpad running WIN 2000 Pro. I was trying to set up a partnership using IR. I was able to tranfer a file from the IBM to the PPC, but when I try to detect the IR connection through activesync it says device not detected. Is this even possible??
Thanks

You actually need to initate the IR connection through ActiveSync on your device. Make sure that your ThinkPad AS has the IR port activated as a connection option. Once you have aligned the two IR ports and your ThinkPad has found the iPAQ, go to AS on your iPAQ and tap Options..Connect via IR. AS should launch on your ThinkPad and take you through the process.

I can't get past the get connected wizard to get to connection settings on AS on the laptop.

I suggest you start the wizard on the PC. In the lower right hand corner you should see the gray ActiveSync icon, right click on it and then left click on Connection Settings... This will take you to the screen where you can enable the serial cable or infrared connection. Check that it is enabled. Then go to the PocketPC, open the ActiveSync page on the PocketPC, then click on |Tools | Connect via IR...|

Thanks, I figured it out on my own. I had to tap connect via IR on PPC AS, and start the AS wizard searching for the PPC at the same time. Then and only then would the laptop detect the PPC and initiate the partnership.

Thanks,

Bengy
