Serial -> IrDA adapter

Hi all,
i'm interseted in building a serial/paralel/usb to IrDA adapter to communicate with my Mio 168RS (to replace the cable)
i found one schematics that might works:
www.veg.nildram.co.uk/remote.htm (schematics is a bit down)
if it's good, i assume i need a software, can any1 help me with that (mayb send me one or explain what do i need to write in it (i know c/c++))

Hmmm... are you sure you don't want to get, for example, one of the RedSnake serial/USB/direct-to-motherboard IR transmitters?

I have the latter (direct-to-motherboard) and it's working flawlessly, without any additional driver / 3rd party apps, as a standard peripheral.

Yes i'm sure,
i'm interested in Building my own IrDA Adapter, i don't think that if i'm using Activesync i need software (by recent reading, lol)
10x anyway,
La bla bla
