Hi, Jonathan! Here is my step-by-step for Cingular GRPS connection.
1. Go to Start - Settings - Connections - Connections (icon).
2. Tap "Add a new modem connection"
3. Enter a name for the connection: "Cingular GPRS" , select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
4. Enter access point name - wap.cingular
5. Enter Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM and Password: CINGULAR1 (username and password are both case sensitive)
6. Tap ok in the upper right corner several times to return to the Today Screen.
Now you should configure Proxy server. Start - Settings - Connections - Connections (icon).
1. Start "Setup my proxy server".
2. Go to Proxy settings page and check the boxes:
"This network connects to the Internet": Checked
"This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet": Checked
3. Now tap Advanced and than HTTP Proxy .
4. Enter Server: wireless.cingular.com and Port: 80
5. Now tap Socks and enter:
Server: localhost
Port: 1080
Type: Socks 4
6. Tap ok in the upper right corner several times to return to the Today Screen.
Now you Cingular GPRS settings are complited, run Internet Explorer and check if it works.
Wonder if this PROXY setup will allow me to capture my POP email? I did the first 6 inputs already and can get on the I'net but not pick up email. I'll give it a try. I'm using an iPAQ hw6945 or my backup which is a RAZR V3xx linked to an iPAQ hx4700.
