Jaiveer,

Thanks for the posting and the offer of help. [:)]

Of course, we would suggest that anyone needing help post their question on the forum rather than privately via email. That way others can also benefit from the information provided and you won't have to repeat it as often.

On the other hand, if you are offering a commercial service for a fee, you should make that clear in your message as well.

I own a HP 928 Jornada. helle of a machine, withj built in GSM /GPRS phone.

But unlike other machines like my previous Sagem Pocket PC GPS, it does not recognize callers, neither through caller ID nor through the addressbook/contact list.

Anybody sees a remedy?

I own an HP iPAQ 5455 and an Ericsson T68i and want to know if I can use the iPAQ to access the net through the GPRS connection? I have T-mobile's T-zones running and a bluetooth partnership between the two devices but not sure how to go from here. Is it possible?

I'm not sure if T-zones is enough. I think you also need their Internet Express (or something like that) service.

In any case, what you need to do is first estabish a Bluetooth Pairing between the iPAQ and the T68i. (Follow the instructions in the Bluetooth Manager's wizard.) Then, in the iPAQs connection manager, you need to set up a connection and for the phone number enter: *99*#

That should get you going. If you need more complete instructions let us know. But the first thing is to estabish that you have ISP service on your T-Mobile account.

Unfortunately, I don't have a 928 myself so I can't offer specific help. However, you might want to try the demo of PhoneKing. (http://www.applian.com/pocketpc/phoneking/index.php) It is specifically designed for Bluetooth phones, but it might help with the 928. In any case, I would do a backup before trying it. [;)]

You need to enter the numbers in the phone book / contact book / contact list with all the extensions for it recognise like Country COde + Area Code + Number to recognise the caller ID

You dont need your Erricson T681 your iPAQ itself is a GSM Mobile Phone and you can access GPRS with any Mobile Phone provider who is offering GPRS. If you want to connect your Mobile Phone with the PPC on the Blue Tooth - it is very simple are you able to link your Mobile Phone with the 5455 then configure the PPC with the same COM port setting

You dont have to go by the number *99*# - all the mobiles pick up the string automatically like the iPAQ 3850 takes it as "GPRS0" (last digit is Zero" and the XDA takes it as +0 GPRS!XXXXXX.com (xxxxxx is the APN)

You are mistaken here. The HP iPAQ 5455 is certainly not a GSM phone. It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built-in, but no GSM/GPRS.

Thanks for the info. I knew that there are various other strings that can be used, but as you point out they are different from device to device - and I don't know them all. Are there any advatages to using the GRPS alpha strings over the *99*#?

On the other hand, I know that with the specific units that euskegu is using (the iPAQ 5455 and the SEM T68i) the *99*# will work for the default CID. It's generally safe to stick to what you know.[;)]

Q for Jaiveer and Moderators...I have a HP 5450 and I plan to add a GSM/GPRS module from HP to make my HP 5450, as a all in one mobile communicator. But I understand that the current HP GSM/GPRS does not support the 5400 series. Is this true? If yes, what options are there to convert my HP 5450 into a all in one PDA cum Phone?

In view of the fact that the WANDA by TI is not available yet but I still like to have wifi, GPRS and GSM inluded. I am currently using the SE T68i with HP 5450. Thanks.

Presently iam working for an project which uses the GSM/GPS Module. What i have to do is
1) Switch on the GSM & activate the GSM as an MODEM.
2) Now communicate with an FTP / any server & put / get some datas from that.
3) End up the connection.
4) When called or when the main server is sending some datas to my GSM module, I have to get those datas & store in the local file.
Pls help me to get the coding as soon as possible, as the time is running out for me. I would be very greatful if you can send the codings in the EVC++ or Likely in EVB.

So If you can help me in getting the code for FTP /GSM / GPS pls mail me the source Code. I need them Very Urgently

Waiting for your reply.

I'm sorry Soma, but asking for someone to write C++ code for you here is a little beyond the scope of these forums. Perhaps someone in the consulting business can quote you a price for the task, but what you're asking for is more complex than I believe that someone would be willing to do for free.

Warrmk: Please try to avoid posting the same question in multiple forum sections. If people start responding to the multiple copies, then readers don't get to see all the answers and comments in one place. I have replied in the Bluetooth forum, and request that others continue that thread instead of responding here.

Thank you.

I am trying to get my Dell Axim to connect to T-Mobile's GPRS netowrk through the IR port of my Samsung S105 phone. I have successfully connected this way, using the phone as a modem to connect to my ISP, but this is very slow. I believe I should be able to connect directly to the GPRS network, using it as the ISP. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the Nokia D211 for use in my laptop and service with 02 in Germany. At 115, plus a high price for each mb, the service is both slow and expensive. Basic price is €90 and usually runs me closer to €150. Unfortunatly, becasue of the horrid service by DT, it's my best option. Any hints on how to maximize the speed or minimize the amount that gets downloaded that I don't need. Will pop up killers work with this? Are there any other XP tricks to minimize junk downloads? I already killed the pictures. Thanks.

Well this is not really a Pocket PC related question, but you might want to have a look at "the Proxomitron" athttp://proxomitron.org

The program UI is really ugly, but it works great. You can configure it to reduce the amount of stuff that is downloaded, including pop-ups, etc.

David Shier

Thanks for the suggestion. I was also looking at the 5555 and expansion pack which would take the PC card, so there were some Pocket Pc implications. Before making the investment, I wanted to check out the possibilities. I am aware that the Pocket PC IE is different but at the slower speeds and higher costs, every euro adds up. Thanks.

For the Pocket PC, there is not a lot you can do to reduce the downloads other than turn off images. The good news is that the Pocket PC doesn't support multiple IE windows, so no popups anyway.

Could you help me configure IPAQ 3850 to use GPRS connection through Sony Ericsson T310's IrDA port? Hutch Delhi's GPRS works fine on my mobile but when IPAQ tries to connect thru IrDA (it does dial *99***1#), the message "GPRS parameters not supported" pops on T310 and IPAQ cannot access net, although it remains connected.

Hello I am a complete newbie. Just bought a ipaq 2215 and I have a nokia 6610 with gprs enabled. Can someone tell me how to connect to the net using Hutch(Calcutta)? What are the settings reqd. on my ipaq?

[?] I'm developping in eVC++ for an application on x86 platform. The OS is WinCE .NET. I need to make a connection with a GPRS module. My application hasn't any type of User Interface (mouse, keyboard).
When I try a connection the system show the Dial-Up dialog to click on "Connect" button and this is the problem because I haven't a mouse, I would like to start the connection without confirmation. Can you help me?

Thaks in advance

I have an ipaq 6970 and use an emtec aerial and it works very well using the destinator2 software, this way you have less cables a neater installation and would recommend this setup. You will nead a power supply lead from the cigar lighter to the ipaq. If you buy the destinator software and the Emtec plus the power lead it may work out less expensive.
Ayess.

Yes the best way to connect your PPC with the mobile phone is with the bluetooth, you can buy any mobile phone that supports the bluetooth, then connect to the internet and if you have a PC you can also plug in a bluetooth dongle there and also use the same for your syncronization

I have a broadband connection on my pc, can I use a bluetooth dongle with my bluetooth ipaq to connect to the internet?

Also I have just brought the panasonic x70, on Orange with orange world and wish to use the GRPS element, I've heard of monitors and connection software to manage the connection can you recommend a decent, preferably freeware or cheap!

Thanks in advance

Hi, I have a Siemens S56 and Ipaq 2215, Im from another country panama, can you help me please with the bluetooth internet connection??

You first have to pair both the devices and then you need to configure the GPRS connection.

Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Internet Connections -> Modify -> Select GPRS -> Select -> Hayes Modem -> Check for the Dialing number from the service Provider (Usually *99***1# -> No Password -> No User ID (Login ID) -> Connect

Hope this helps ?? All the very best

This time i am using redhat linux kernel2.6....................
I want to send some data through GPRS from my personel desktop but
unable to do this...
can you give me a sample code which helps me in making complete code
of sending the data
through GPRS fron linux desktop.............

I have a Cingular 8125 and a Cingular 8525, I use them in an Edge enabled network (not Cingular). The 8125 works great for internet browsing, email, MSN messenger, etc., however with the 8525 with same connection settings I´m not able to have a decent data connection, when I open an internet page stalls in the "opening" status forever. I´ve tried different parameters in the registry with no success, looks like the best result has been opening 5Kb of a search in Google but no more. Any ideas on what is causing such behavior?
