Hi,
Platform: I-mate jamin, WM5, Activesync 4.1, HPCompaq nx6110 Laptop.
I am unable to connect my I-mate jamin to active sync thru USB. When i put the Mobile in the Cradle it says connecting... and that's it. I went thru the whole connection process again and again, no luck, i went thru the whole troubleshooting process on Microsoft website, still no luck, I hard reset my Mobile, same same.
I am able to connect thru Bluetooth (but its keeps disconnecting specially when installing programs or transferring files).
I was able to connect to another laptop, but after a while i am having the same problem.
Anyone who can support or have any clues would be appreciated.
Thanks

First my suggestion is make sure your HP laptop's BIOS and other windows drivers are up to date.
Re-install AC after the drivers have been updated. When connecting the PDA to the laptop, I would insert the PDA into the cradle and then connect the USB cable to the laptop. The laptop should recognize that a new device is connected and then go through the setup process. If not, you can always try another USB port if you have more than 1. Most laptops do.
Once you get it working, you should be able to leave the cradle connected and insert the PDA as required.
Good luck
Bob

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your reply,
I checked the Bios for my laptop, it's the latest version and there is no update related to USB drivers.
Although, I did a repair install of Active Sync and when finished, I started Active Sync connection wizard, and Inserted the PDA in the Cradle before connecting to Laptop. the "RNDIS" driver was detected and installed. But still the same problem, it displays "Connecting" and the Connection Settings Screen Says "Waiting for Device" for ever.
Is there a log file for active sync we can check to check for some errors...
Any other clues are appreciated.
Thanks,
Gary_Young
I bought three of the JAMin things this week. First one worked perfectly, the next two need to be "jammed" somewhere.
I contacted iMate Tech support who claimed the version of activesync supplied on the CD was faulty and to download the version from their site.
It appears to be exactly the same (link to Microsoft site anyway) and does not fix the problem.
I will pass on any info I find....

Received this little gem from iMate Tech support - and IT WORKS!
Dear Sir,
Thank you for contacting Club i-mate™ Technical Support.
Please find the attached .cab file that will help you to resolve the ActiveSync issue that you are facing. You may send the file to your device via Bluetooth or Infra-red and you may follow the attached instruction guide.
Once the cab file is installed, it will change the ActiveSync mode in the device from RNDIS to Serial and the device will behave as if it is running on older Operating Systems and without creating any network between it and the PC.
For any other queries, please feel free to contact us and we will be glad to assist you.

I'm having the same problem with my phone. Any chance of getting that .cab file??

I got the Cab File but didn't have time to try it yet.
I was wondering if we loose any functionality if we use the serial Cab instead of the Netwrok one!!!

Hi Gary
I was wondering if you could help me get a copy of the cab file described in your message. I have tried to locate something of that description on the imate website but have not been successful at all.
Thanks

Me too. Do they not test their software before burning ROMs or releasing CDs?!

Hi there,
I am having the same problem with my imate jamin connecting to my PC. The PC remains jammed and no info is exchanged. I have reinstalled the CD, but it still will not work. Is there access to any software that can assist. Will the .cab file work???
Cheers.... Matt
