I just brought a new Jornada 720 off ebay, just got it tonight. I can't seem to sync it with any of my pc's. I've syncing via USB with the newest version of Microsoft Activesync, and i also tried with the version that came with my jornada (3.1). Both of my desktops are running XP Pro. My laptop has 2 USB ports while my desktop has 4. This is what I get when trying to sync.
The Jornada just tries to connect, than gives me the error message "Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. Remote Networking could not start due to a critical error (Error 678).
Please reconnect your device. If the problem perisits, restart your device using the instructions provided by the manufactor.
My desktop and laptop, when the jornada is first connected and trying to sync (with active sync in the background, looking for the device for the first time) pops up 'USB device not recongized" for 2 seconds or so than the active sync comes back, and says it couldn't find anything but the USB port is 'free'
Anyone? I really want this to sync.

I found out the problem. The pins on the docking bay were stuck down, after spending about 3 hours trying to fix it I thought of something else, how about Infrared? Everything worked like that, the speed isn't too bad, So i guess I will just live like this haha. Actually, I am typing this message on my jornada 720 with a wireless card on it. Thanks!

Hi. I've been writing about the problem you describe on this forum since joining earlier today. I found your 'solution' interesting because my analysis and conclusion has been...bad contacts inside of the cradle. It makes perfect sense. Personnally, I bought another cradle which is coming from Brazil. I don't know if it is "New" or not. I hope it is new...
The Jornada 728 I bought comes up with a ?Month/2000 default date and had been well used. I got it over ebay...supposedly in "good condition." Well, if it takes the addition of a cradle, so be it. However, I don't get very fast performance nor what seems to be a 'whole page' when on the internet...comparing it to what I see on the same page with my desktop or laptop.
Any thoughts on that? Can you see all of "My Ebay" on your Jornada?
I haven't had this that long and will refer it to Paypal,etc. if the Jornada itself is the 'villian.'
What do you think about what I have said?
