I have an h1940, PPC 2003, with an ambicom wireless card. I have DSL and a wireless router (Linksys). During set up I can see my Linksys, the 2Wire network, and some network of one of my neighbors.
Unit says it is connect to my home network, but Explorer can't open any sites and usually get message "Site not found". I have configured to connect to both the Linksys signal and the 2Wire signal.
I have gone through every set-up suggestion and still no luck. I have disabled firewalls and entered the h1940's mac address in the Linksys controls.
I tried to ping the device and no luck with that either.
**** for a short time today, I was able to log on to the VPN network here at work. But now that's not working either...it could be our VPN, but a Notebook PC can log on in our office.
HELP.

This is a problem I've had with WiFi in general, since it came out. Every laptop I've had has also had similar problems. The wireless manager will tell you that you're connected to a signal, that the signal is good and everything is OK. And yet, your browser will not load anything. Everyone I know has the same frustration with wireless. Your wireless manager will give you a list of available signals without passwords, yet there seems to be no way to distinguish which of those "available" signals will actually allow you to log onto the internet.
It seems to me that this is one of the biggest obstacles to making wireless internet as widely used and as useful as it should be. I have a Pocket PC, an HP IPaq, and I have a terrible time getting connected with the wireless manager. It will tell me I'm connected and good to go and yet, no download is possible.
Windows wireless managers are woefully inadequate and I don't know why they haven't yet addressed it. You would think that there would be clear options to connect to or disconnect from any available signal you choose. Yet, there are no such options. It seems that you just have to let your device connect to whichever signal it chooses, regardless of whether or not that signal allows you to actually access the internet. Sometimes I'll be connected to a signal that is allowing no downloads, and yet there is no option to disconnect from this signal and try another. You click on the signals on the list, no such option exists. You can "configure" them, yet you can't decide to connect or disconnect, like you can in XP.
The wireless manager is a disgrace to Microsoft and should be revamped immediately. It's counter-intuitive and doesn't allow nearly enough control over connections. What's more, any documentation they put out is always disgracefully inadequate which means that users have to resort to making pleas on forums, in the hope that some expert will tell them what Microsoft should really include in its own documentation.
For my business, I need to use my Pocket PC to access the internet. In Manhattan, this shouldn't be much of a problem. Yet, I find myself frustrated again and again every day, even in areas that are supposed to have "free coverage". Does anyone know of a better wireless manager solution for Windows Mobile? I've had enough of the impotence of the included one.

I've had the same problem, unfortunately. Luckily the newer models seem to have better results, as my laptop connects very easily.

I also have an HP IPAQ 2003, and the same problem. I have tried a lot of things, but.... still the same, I see that I am connected, but I can't go to any site. That's why I browsed the internet, to look for a forum to find help, but I see that there isn't any solution yet. I hope someone will read this and comes with a solution. I live in Aruba and a friend ordered my Ipaq from the States and now I can't use it to go to the internet. I hope there is somebody who can help us!

I would try and reinstall the software or the driver. See that helps.
