i had the same problem too. I've resolved it by entering the Primary and secondary DNS info. However, this brings about another problem. At home I connect to one network and another at work. I have to manually key in the DNS setting everytime.
I thought for DHCP, DNS setting should be automatic? Am I missing something here?

This problem seems to have been going on for YEARS now. Has no one ever solved it? I am running one of the most compatible cards (linksys wpc11 v3) and I still cannot access any other router except for mine. The only way I was able to do it was to set the SSID name to the same as my router. That is fine for my router, but I cannot get this info from another router when I am out and about.
It seems like someone gifted in this area needs to create a driver with the proper settings.

I wouldn't exactly call the WPC11 "one of the most compatible cards." I hear people having problems with it all the time. By contrast, my Agere ORiNOCO card works consistently with little or no effort.

This will work! That was the key to this huge problem. Everyone and their brother seems to not be able to connect due to the same problem "full bar strength, no internet access".
Well the problem is that it states "default" in the profile and SSID. it should say "ANY".
This finally solved the problem. Holy moly I can't believe this info in only in one spot on the entire internet. (well not anymore)
I have been to over 30 websites and found squat for help except for people scratching their heads and loading every driver under the planet. The fact that the utility opens and receives the packets was the clue phone that I just needed the key word to figure this out.
Since everyone believed it was a driver issue I went along with it, but this was exactly what I suspected.

OK, I've got the 720 and the Linksys WPC11 ver. 3
I have excellent link and excellent sig strength.
I'm using the settings:
Profile: Any
Mode: Infrastructure
SSID: Any
Encryption: Disabled
(fromhttp://www.smartphonemag.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28232 )
I still get "A connection with the server could not be established" when trying to use the built in IE.
Can anyone help? I bought this explicitly to use wifi.

Try this driver:

Actually, I found the most straightforward solution at:
http://www.usedhandhelds.com/store/cart.php?m=content&page=6
Not only the right driver, but also full instructions! I followed instructions to the letter, and it worked the first time! Can't be beat.[:)]
