In Windows Mobile Media Player, why isn't track "play count" and "date last played" incremented every time?

Some of my music tracks increment the "play count" and "date last played" each time I play them on my WM 6 device.  Then, when I sync the track to Window Media Player 11 on my PC, the play count is incremented on my PC.

However, some tracks don't increment the "play count" and "date last played" every time.! And I can't figure out why some do and some don't!

As background, so that I don't hear the same music over and over, I set up auto-play lists on Windows Media Player that only add/sync music not played in the last 30 days. So, I am eager to have this feature work.

So, what up with this?  Why would some tracks/CD's update play count and some tracks don't?  Is it got anything to do with the way I am ripping CD's.  Is this a known bug?  What can I do to fix this? Help!

After plenty of searching to find an answer...I couldn't find an answer. I am not sure if that is just a bug or what, but I have no idea why it does that. If anyone else has experience with this, let us know...I'm stumped.

Thanks Dale. I appreciate you searching. I'm stumped too (obviously).

Does anyone out there have any ideas on how to fix this?

Or maybe we could ask: has anyone else experienced this problem too?

Thanks.

This seems to be a common problem with WMP. Did you try CorePlayer or Pocket Player (both support these kinds of autolist)?

Coreplayer is definitely the answer for anyone who wants their WM device to be a media machine. I get a good chuckle out of commercials that show some of the various phones that play music...most of those commercials try to indicate that their phone is some kind of ground breaker in that field. Windows Mobile has been my primary mobile entertainment device for a few years now, and I can happily say it does about everything I need it to do.

Hello, Dale,

Do you have the at&t Tilt?

I'm getting nowhere fast with AvotMedia - "not enough memory" and vTap is not what I would call a full blast media machine. :)

What if I buy coreplayer and it doesn't work on my phone?  I'm having a tough time and am really looking forward to watching youtube videos.

Thanks,
Steph

I'm pretty sure the CP folks return your money if CorePlayer doesn't work on your phone. (Which is highly unlikely - it has worked on all my phones so far - and I have tons of them.)

Maybe my phone just doesn't like me. I seem to have trouble with programs nobody else does.  AvotMedia for instance. When I can get back to concentrating on my phone, I'll take the plunge into CP.
