It's been almost 10 years since the last HP 200LX was manufactured! So, why an HP200LX forum?
The short answer is that our company, Thaddeus Computing, still buys, sells, repairs, accessorizes, and supports HP 200LX. See our web site. We want a place to support are users. We should have done it years ago, but the relaunch of this forum gave us the opportunity.
For the unitiated, the HP 200LX Palmtop PC runs a complete implementation of DOS and has a full version of Lotus 1-2-3 built in, a great HP calculator, a powerful data base program, and PIM functions. There are LOTS of the third party DOS programs still available. Many still think it is the best PDA ever made. The fact that there are still strong 200LX users and companies after so many years, support the premise.
From 1991-99 we published a magazine in support of HP LX users. All archives are available at our web site.
We'll see if there is a need for this forum. We'll keep it open as long as there seems to be interest and a need.

Hi Hal, I've been a HPLX member for some time. I'm interested in palmtops and PDAs but have only recently ordered an HP LX200 from Daniel Hertrich. I'm pleased that you've started this forum an hope to learn from your archive.
I'm also interested in an adapter, usable in UK, for the LX200. I believe you are out of stock at the moment, but I'll keen an eye on your sales area.
Thanks agin for your work in this area.

Hi Hal,
First of all many thanks for providing this online forum for the HP 200LX users!
I think that this is a real example of "Go home from the dance with the one that you arrived with." A little bit of backwoods logic.
HP made a mistake a long time ago in their decision to drop this excellent product line. Their engineers were disheartened, the 3rd party vendors were frustrated and we users were devastated and felt betrayed! Their decision to jump on the then current Microsoft software offerings and abandon the large user base of DOS users probably cost them more than they eventually gained.
Your conscious decision to support this product line for these many years and into the future is extremely important to those of us in the USA and, I am sure, others around the world. Daniel in Germany and Michel in Belgium offer a significant International service capability as well, but you folks are the "rock". You've stuck with us and we will continue to stick with you!
It has been asked many times before, but what is more useable than computer with a readable B&W screen, a simple and useful operating system, a keyboard that is large enough to use, easy access to large memory cards (far beyond the 128K RAM originally envsioned), 1000s of available programs and hardware which runs on two AA cells for weeks?
I, too, was a longterm subscriber to the magazine and waited anxiously for the arrival of the latest new information each month. I'd load the software and marvel at all of the new and exiting functionality. Thanks, so much, for your willingness to make this costly archive available for our use!
Your support of our user base is very beneficial and much appreciated--I know that I speak for others in saying that we hope this continues to be beneficial to you as well.

Hi
Martin is my name. I am not sure how much I will be visiting.
I am a long time HP200LX user and I have been on the HPLX-L for many many years.
I am slowly getting back to my life after an accident easter of 2007. So I get less time every day for stuff like this forum. The HPLX-L was a great help for me after the accident. I got a lot of get well cards from HP200LX users all over the world.
I use my HPLX every day. It runs my life and I have three backup units. I have nothing but good things to say about Thaddeus. I bought several Compaq Ipaq's too from them. I have one that is good. And one I will probably look at tomorrow to see if I can get it up and running. I use them for TomTom Navigator in my supercar.
Great to be here.
Regards
