SMTP error over WiFi

I have an HP Jornada 720  with an Cisco Aironet  WiFi card installed and am able to connect to my ISP via Netgear Server through a Local Area Network.

I can use the Internet and read Emails but when I try to SEND AN EMAIL I they go straight into OUTBOX and do not appear as SENT. If I try to send them I get this message:-

ERROR SENDING MESSAGE.UNEXPECTED SMTP ERROR.

Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem .

It's probable your ISP 'requires authentication' for outgoing emails. Check your email settings-there should be a place for 'Outgoing Server Requires Authentication' (or similar). Just set that up and you should be good to go. ISP's do this to limit spam senders as they make sure it's your account before sending emails.
