Great forum, I am very glad I found this site.
My questions are regarding Internet speed / system speed improvment and software. Maybe Rich Hawley will have insight on this issue.
I have a 900 and a 900C with the following software
900C
Windows CE.NET 4.2
Firmware P530_42 1.8.5
Build Date May 6,2004
PIC Firmware ID 4.19.7
Bootloaded Version 4.5.1-6
2000-2003 BSQUARE.CORP.
Wireless connection that works perfectly.
I enjoy the keyboard, screen size, heft, and feel of the 900s as opposed to my Dell x50 touch screen. I use the Windows Office porducts on the 900 but have put that unit to the side as I need faster access to the internet, hence the 900C.
Drawback from these units is the access speed and screen refresh while on the Internet. Is there any way to speed up the process of loading and using the Internet? And / or, is the anyway of getting the Windows Office software on to 900C? If not can somwething been done to speed up the Internet porcess on the 900? I do need to keep the ability to see jpgs/photos etc on the Internet.

Two different subject:
First Microsoft Office: If you mean Microsoft Office like the desktop version, the answer is no. It is only made for WindowsX86. If you wonder if there is a compatible Microsoft Office application, the answer is yes, Textmaker is super powerful and works much like Office Word. If you mean the Pocket Office such as used to be in the HPC2000 OS, the answer is yes again...Cmonex has put together such a package that works on CE.NET 4.2. She normally hangs out on HPCFACTOR.COM.
Second, speeding up internet access: The screen refresh rate is limited to the cpu speed of 400mHz. Some people speed things up by doing several things, such as cpu overclockers, using only optimized for mobile websites, using other browsers such as Opera, and a few of us use faster wifi cards which helps a little bit too. 802.11G versus 802.11B, but it only helps a little as the biggest bottleneck is the Mobilepro's ability to download and refresh the screen data.
I'm afraid that there is only so much you can do to speed things up on these HPCs, they were not designed to be speed demons...rather fulfill a lot of niche needs.
This is a great site, but with the demise of the HPC, it gets frequented less and less and many users hang out on HPCFactor, so you might check there as well.

Thanks for the quick reply Rich. Indeed I was referring to Pocket Office. I'll check into the Comonex package. As for the speed issue I was afraid this would be your answer. Too bad to, as the 900s are really great computers.
Is there anything that comes to mind to replace the 900 that you are aware of?
