An IPAQ 4700 running with Windows Mobile 5 requires a different procedure for a hard reset than one running with Windows Mobile 2003.
Follow these steps to perform a hard reset on a WM 5 system:
- Press and hold the hardware buttons for mail and contacts.
- Use the stylus to press and release the soft reset button.
- Following the instruction on the resulting pop-up screen, press the calendar button to execute a hard reset.
This information wasn't as readily available as I'd have liked, so I offer it here in case anyone else has been futilely pressing the calendar and iTask buttons, which was the appropriate method for the 2003 operating system.
