If you synced your device with your desktop pc, the mail messages, contact info and all other data will easily sync with any new device you may get. I am not sure what you mean by .pdf...no files, other than an attached PDF document, would have that attachment.
Werner may be able to tell you what options are available, but all the information I found says that the file needs to be read by the same program that created the Backup image file. If I find anything to the contrary, I will let you know.
What you have used is the backup app provided as part of HP's add-ons to the WM OS since WM itself has no built-in backup applet. It is possible that HP has software for unpacking the backup on a desktop PC; check their web site to see if there is anything related to that in their downloadable software or in their documentation library. Many moons ago (in the old Jornada/PPC2002 days) they used aa very basic version of Sprite Backup as their bundled backup/restore applet but I do not know if that is still the case.
I think probably the easiest way is for someone to offer to read it for me on their ipaq.
They would have to
1. Backup their ipaq
2. Restore from my file
3.get my appointment data (either manually or by syncing and exporting)
4. restoring their ipaq.

I got a ipaq 6515

Did you use iPAQ Backup for the backup? Then, you're safe: you only need to restore it to another iPAQ. Alternatively, you can give Sprite's backup file browser / restorer tool, which is, IIRC, also able to browse these files.
If you absolutely have no other iPAQ's, feel free to send me the backup over (if it doesn't have secret info - I take no responsibility of it "caught" by pirates while in transfer) and I'll restore it onto my iPAQ's and export the database into an easily-importable format.

Sorry.. meant pBF
I did not have an up to date backup in my outlook. What I did was backup the phone/pocketpc to my storage card using the backup in windows mobile.
Since I do not have another phone I cannot access it.
What I need I guess is someone with an ipaq 6515 or equivilent to open the file for me.
Thanks in advance.
