SD card and soft reset

On my iPAQ hx2495b, I have a 2.0 GB SD card that holds the majority of my 3rd party software. Recently, a few days back, I did a soft reset due to my iPAQ freezing on me. Since then, everytime I put in my SD card while my iPAQ is on, I've noticed that the machine seems to freeze (whenever I tap on any portion of the screen, none of the menus/programs open). To remedy this, I remove the SD card and had to do a soft reset. Leaving the SD card out, my iPAQ is able to go past the blue/white startup screen into the today screen, respond to my stylus taps and programs/menus can open/close at the normal speed. However, that leaves me not being able to use the programs that I normally use, which are on the SD card. I've tried doing a soft reset with the SD card multiple times to see if it would remedy this problem, but everytime I do it with the SD card in the iPAQ, the machine freezes on the blue/white startup screen and wont go past to the today screen. I've also tried to see if another SD card works with my machine and it's able to work and load the programs fine with no problem. I've even lent my SD card to a friend who has the same model iPAQ I have to test it out on their machine and they are able to have the SD card load and open/close programs/menus at the normal speed. Please help. Any questions/suggestions will be deeply appreciated. Thank you.

How about backing up your SD card software and reformatting and then inserting it into your Ipaq and see how it works. Then slowly start adding the applications back onto the SD card until you can pinpoint what is causing the problem...

The programs on my SD card are in a way already backed up on the computer that I activesync my iPAQ with. If there is another way to back up the programs and files on my SD card, please suggest.

How would I go about reformatting my SD card?

If you have a card reader for your host PC, copy the card contents to a folder on your PC's hard drive. An added benefit to this is that the files will be defragmented during the copy process. You can then use the PC's file explorer to format the card (do not use the NTFS file system for the card). This will allow you to incrementally copy app folders back to the card until you isolate the problem child.

While ActiveSync makes it much easier to reinstall apps from your PC host, it is not backing up your SD card. Documents stored there or apps you install directly on your device without using your PC host machine will not be tracked by ActiveSync.
