This is first time I have used the VIP site so hope it works!
My computer guy cannot install tom tom gps software on my Orange SPV M3100. He tells me this version [7] isn't compatible with this handset. I am not very computer literate but love using my PDA as phone and sat nav device so thinking of upgrading to HTC TYTN II where GPS software preloaded.
Can anyone help me?

It seems there's only a Europe-only Smartphone-specific version of TomTom. There are, however, several other Smartphone-specific and/or friendly GPS / mapping apps; for example, Route 66, Windows Live Search or the yet-to-be-released Garmin software.
I also recommend the thread at http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1268886 (and the XDA-Developers threads linked from there) for more information.

Thanks for your reply
I 've had 3 replacement phones [!!] from Orange and last 2 managed to get tom tom working ok with odd freeze that was cleared by simply pressing the ok or menu keys.
It looks like I may have to upgrade to the new HTC TYTN II that's got sat nav already onboard. I'm just a bit concerned that the same problems with m3100 will re-occur in tytn II. Have you had any feedback from new owners?

(duplication, sorry)

The Kaiser (TyTN II) does have some software issues (see for example http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=342500 ), but, it seems, they aren't relayed to TomTom at all.
On the Kaiser, many state TomTom runs OK - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=346395 . However, AT & T Tilt users have reported problems with it - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336935 .
To find out what the case now is, I've posted a thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1686181 so that I can collect the opinions of the Kaiser users. I'll report on the results later; however, you're too free to visit the thread.

So far, it seems it's running perfectly on both the original HTC Kaiser and the Vario III rebrand with program versions 6.030 and 6.032.

(Note that, due to a misunderstanding, the previous post referred to the MS Smartphone platform, NOT the Pocket PC one.)

Hi Again
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner; I couldn't get access to the vip area without logging out and back in again and I''m not very good at picking up messages via anything other than simple email!
I see you have added the comment that it looks like I CAN get tom tom to work on existing pda phone using [tom rom?] versions 6.030 or 6.032 . Is this correct?
