I want to buy a xv6700. It would be my first smartphone/pocket pc and i would like to know if i have to buy the service from verizon that allows me to use the internet on the phone everywhere. Because i only wanna use the phone at hotspots to check the internet there. So i guess what im asking is will verizon charge me to use wifi at my house.

Verizon won't charge you anything for connecting it to your wireless network at home. The only charge is for the service for the phone and/or the data plan if you want to use their Internet service. I have the XV6600 and bought the data plan and have never had a problem with it.
