AT&T Tilt

With an innovative design and unmatched connectivity features, the Tilt packs a powerful punch.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas back in January of 2007, Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine was given an advanced look at a number of new products that HTC planned for release later in the year.

Of particular interest to me was the device they code-named "Kaiser." I really liked the small size and tilt-up display. This device has appeared in Europe and elsewhere as the "TyTN II." In the U.S., in homage to its innovative display mechanics, wireless giant AT&T (formerly Cingular) elected to call it the "Tilt." Certainly, the way the screen slides back to expose the QWERTY keyboard and then tilts up for a more comfortable viewing angle is the first thing you notice about the Tilt, so I can understand why AT&T chose the name. But there is much more to it than that.

The most connected mobile device in the world?

Probably the most import feature of the Tilt is something you don't notice at first: While tiny, this phone has an incredible array of connectivity options:

  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
  • Tri-band UMTS/HSDPA (3G/3.5G high speed data)
  • Wi-Fi (802.11b/g)
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • GPS
  • USB
